Outdoor Ceiling Fan On Sale
Normally outdoor
ceiling fans are not made the same way as indoor ceiling
fans. Most of the outdoor ceiling fans have to be tested
before they can be sold to the public to ensure that they
can be used in difference outdoor weather.
Furthermore, main difference between indoor
fans is that outdoor fans are generally made from plastic or
resin as they have to be able to deal with weather conditions,
while indoor fans can be made from soft wood and other
materials that can easily be damaged.
Most
outdoor ceiling fans also have overhead lights. These lights
are as numerous as the fans themselves. They can imitate the
reflected light of a chandelier or can be encased in the latest
style of contemporary art. Whatever you want, it can be done is
probably already available. The overhead light is especially
useful in an outdoor setting. In fact, many people need outdoor
lighting for their patio and realize the benefit of installing
a light and a ceiling fan in tandem.
There are 2
basic types of outdoor ceiling fans. Those that are UL listed
and approved for use in Wet Locations and those that are rated
for Damp Locations.
Wet Rated Outdoor Ceiling
Fans: Wet rated outdoor ceiling fans can be exposed
directly to rain, so they are not only great for outdoor
patios, but can be installed under a Gazeebo or Lanai...or a
patio that is only partially covered.
Damp Rated Outdoor Ceiling
Fans: Damp rated outdoor ceiling fans cannot be
exposed directly to rain or water. They are designed to handle
moisture and must be installed in a covered area such as a
porch, bathroom, or indoor pool area. They cannot be installed
in a Gazeebo or Lanai and should not be installed under a porch
unless the porch is covered enough to protect the fan from
direct exposure to rain.
When
shopping for an outdoor ceiling fan, you need to consider what
you want the fan to accomplish. If the area that you are trying
to keep cool is directly above a seating area and you do not
expect to need much breeze, then the average models will be
sufficient. However, what many have found is that the higher
quality models with larger motors will not only keep you more
comfortable during those hot summer days, they will also keep
the flies away, so this is something to consider when you make
your purchase.
No matter what
type of ceiling fan you purchase, make sure it is rated
properly for use in the area you wish.
Of course,
personal preference always comes into play when choosing a
ceiling fan. Always buy the proper type of
fan for the proper place it is to go in, and make sure a
trained professional installs it for
you.
